Bin Day

Reliable bin data for your council

Bin Day shows UK residents their household bin collection dates by postcode and address. It already runs a live lookup for 352 of 361 councils. We want to work with councils directly so the data behind it stays reliable, and so residents in areas without a good lookup can finally get one.

Why the data breaks today

Most of those lookups read the same public systems residents use. That works, but it is fragile. A form changes, a supplier moves platform, an address drops out of the search, and residents are left guessing until someone spots the gap and fixes it. Working from your own data removes that guesswork.

Two ways to work with us

Pick whichever fits where your data sits today. Both end with residents seeing accurate dates and your team fielding fewer questions.

Share your collection data

Send a feed, a CSV, a calendar, or an API that maps an address, UPRN, or property reference to future collection dates. Bin Day reads from that instead of your public pages, so residents stop hitting broken lookups.

Let us build your bin lookup

Some councils have round data but no reliable resident lookup. We can build and host one for you. A resident enters a postcode, picks an address, and sees the next date for every bin. The same lookup can power your own website, your app, and Bin Day from one source.

What a hosted lookup handles

The hard part is the same in most areas. Turn a postcode into addresses, match the address to the right round, then return the next date for each waste stream. We build that layer and keep it running.

Address matching

Turn a postcode into the addresses on it, then pin the exact home by UPRN or property reference.

Round and route mapping

Map each home to the right general waste, recycling, food, garden, and glass round from your GIS layers, round tables, or property lists.

Calendars and exceptions

Hold the normal pattern plus bank holidays, Christmas weeks, weather disruption, and one-off changes, so the date on screen is always right.

Clean responses

Give your website, your app, and Bin Day the same dates, bin types, and service notes from one place.

What this changes for your team

  • Fewer “when is my bin day” calls and emails to your contact centre.
  • Fewer missed collections and wrong bins out, because residents can check before the morning.
  • Better recycling participation when people know which bin goes out and what goes in it.
  • One dependable source of collection dates for every channel you run.
  • A heads-up when a lookup breaks, so you hear it from us before residents flood in.

Fix a council page detail

Every UK council has a page on Bin Day. If the official bin lookup link, contact route, or service note on your page is wrong, send the correct details and we will update it. No data sharing needed for that.

Get in touch

Send your council name, the system you use, and the data you have. The current bin lookup URL, your waste software supplier, any export format, GIS status, and whether UPRNs are available all help us point you the right way. We reply by email.
